Alberta municipalities release study on EPR for PPP

A study commissioned by Alberta municipalities and other stakeholders to help inform the design of a potential Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program for residential packaging and paper products (PPP) was released today by the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA).

The working group that led the study included CSSA, AUMA, Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA), Recycling Council of Alberta, the City of Edmonton and the City of Calgary.

The study supports exemptions for small businesses and giving municipalities the choice to continue collecting residential PPP through service agreements with producers.
