Manitoba introduced a Packaging and Printed Paper Stewardship Regulation in December 2008, making industry stewards responsible for providing up to 80% of the funding for municipal, First Nations and other community recycling programs.

Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba (MMSM) is the organization responsible for implementing the government approved Program Plan, which was first approved in September 2009.

MMSM is a not-for-profit organization that represents industry stewards in fulfilling their obligation to fund a portion of the residential packaging and printed paper recycling program in Manitoba.

Bringing together the businesses helping to finance recycling services, the consumers that diligently recycle their used items, and municipal partners that collect and process recyclables, MMSM is helping to ensure that as much recyclable waste as possible is captured efficiently and does not end up in a landfill as directed here.

MMSM continues to work towards its goal of promoting the reduction, reuse and recycling of the materials managed in its program. For more information visit:
